In Mumbai, YUVA Urban directly works in two geographical areas–P. North and H. East Administrative wards. YUVA Urban works with two functional communities–people living in streets (children, women, pavement dwellers and homeless) and rehabilitated communities (living in various rehabilitation sites of Mumbai).
P. North and H. East are among the wards which fair badly on the Human Development Index and thus have become a priority for YUVA Urban. Since we have a history of working in these wards, we have knowledge of the governance systems, local groups, dynamics and processes. Currently, YUVA Urban’s work in these wards fall only in one theme. YUVA Urban aims to expand our work to cover all the themes.
Our theme on human settlements will be the leading theme for our work in Mumbai. Our team working on the issues affecting human settlements will lead the state level advocacy process and contribute to the national advocacy process
